Opening Day for Menifee Pony Baseball was a big hit Saturday at Wheatfield Park.
Every field was occupied as boys and girls ages 4-14 took part in the various divisions of play following Opening Ceremonies. The day began with the introduction of the players and league board members, headed by league President Justin Vander Woude and Vice President Mike Adams. Thunder, the team mascot of the Lake Elsinore Storm, stopped by to join in the festivities.
Play then began on several fields and continued throughout the day, with parents cheering on the kids and dozens of volunteers keeping stats, taking photos and manning the snack stand.
Menifee Pony Baseball includes seven ages divisions: Filly, Shetland, Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, Pony and Colt. For more information on the Menifee Pony Baseball program, visit the league's website here.
