Heritage, Paloma Valley Boys Lose Playoff Openers

The boys basketball season ended for Heritage and Paloma Valley high schools Friday night in the first round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs.

Murrieta Valley High held off a spirited effort by Heritage, scoring a 68-58 victory over the Patriots in a Division 2AA playoff opener. Guards Mat Bradshaw and Andrew Oliver kept Heritage in the game with some accurate long-distance shooting. The game was tied at 58 before Murrieta Valley went on a 10-0 run to close out the game.

Oliver scored 28 points and Bradshaw had 16 for the Patriots, who finished the season with an 11-14 record.

Paloma Valley ran up against a tough Crescenta Valley team, which scored an 80-42 victory over the Wildcats behind a 32-point performance from Nick Springer. Preston Green scored 12 points for Paloma Valley, which finished the season 12-17.
