For additional information, visit the Menifee Valley Little League website and the league's Facebook page. Thanks to Jimmy Canales for the information.

Reader Contributions Will Help Make This Site Grow

First, thanks to those who have already sent us information and links regarding youth sports in Menifee. We'll get that information up on the site as quickly as possible.

Bottom line: Keep it coming.

As youth baseball and softball leagues complete tryouts and prepare for upcoming seasons, we want to keep you informed. As teams are formed and schedules are drawn up, we're interested. And we want to see the faces of those who work so hard -- your children, the players; and you, the coaches and volunteers. And that goes for all sports.

To help make this site as complete as possible, there are many things you can send us, including:

-- Registration places, dates and times.

-- Tryout information.

-- Notices about league board meetings.

-- Links to websites with information about local leagues.

-- Game highlights: Keep them brief. Include the final score, updated records of the teams, and key performances by players.

-- Photos: We welcome you to submit photos of your children or team members in action during games. We will publish as many as possible, but we'll have to be selective. Email us your photo in .jpg format and include the name of the player pictured. By doing so, you give us your permission to publish the photo.

Information and photos should be emailed to doug.spoon@gmail.com.

Welcome to the Menifee 24/7 Youth Sports Page!

This new section of Menifee 24/7 is designed to serve and showcase the youth of our community who spend so much of their time on local fields, courts and other playing surfaces. From Wheatfield Park to the Marion Ashley Center fields and to parks all around, boys and girls are enjoying their favorite sports. We'd like to give them some recognition.

Now lest you get the idea this will be a listing of every little Johnny and Jane who gets a base hit or makes a basket, a dose of reality is in order. First, that would be impossible. Second, this is not intended to be the encyclopedia of Menifee youth sports. But we would like to highlight outstanding teams, outstanding players -- and players who just try real hard.

We may publish some game highlights, but we'll leave much of the stats to the websites of the individual sports. We will provide links to those resources and cooperate as much as we can with those who work so hard to publicize player sign-ups, tryouts, and all those things that go along with youth sports.

Coverage will be given to youth athletes up through high school age, although official high school sports coverage of Paloma Valley and Heritage high schools will be published on the main news feed for now. We dabbled a bit in prep football coverage last fall, and we're gearing up for some winter sports coverage soon.

Meanwhile, check back often for updates here and to find out how you can contribute content to populate this site. In essence, our playing field is empty at the moment. But not for long. Email doug.spoon@gmail.com with your inquiries and comments and let's play ball!
